Angeline and Robert Sweeney

January 12, 1944

Angeline and Robert Sweeney celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal and reception on Sunday, January 12th, 2014.

Their special event took place at All Saints Church in Haverhill with Pastor Rev. Timothy Kearney officiating on the very same day and location as the couple’s wedding 70 years ago. A reception was held at Roma Restaurant hosted by the Sweeney’s five children Carol, Dan, Steve, Dennis and Gayle. Ted De Roche, the best man and Angie’s brother, along with many family and friends were on hand to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Their engagement and marriage took place during the uncertain times of WWII when Robert was in the Army. On Monday evening, January 9th, 1944 Robert went to Haverhill from Cortland Army Airfield to marry Angeline. With two days to prepare, they were joined together in Holy Matrimony on January 12th, 1944.

Angeline and Robert reside in Haverhill and are truly blessed with longevity and an everlasting commitment to each other, their family and friends.
