Spotlight Playhouse's performances of Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" featured Haverhill actress Elinor Curtin Cameron.
Spotlight Playhouse assembled the perfect cast for this classic whodunit, drawing on actors from eight Merrimack Valley towns. Curtin Cameron retired after teaching English and drama for 33 years at Haverhill High School, and her appearance in this producation was her first time on stage in almost that many years.
Set in Monkswell Manor, a guesthouse outside of London, the action in "The Mousetrap" unfolds in the middle of a snowstorm. One of the guests is murdered at the end of Act I and you are caught up in the ensuing struggle to figure out which of the snowbound people at the guesthouse committed the crime.
"The Mousetrap" is one of Dame Agatha Christie's most enduring legacies. The play has been running in London for so long that only two members of the cast were even alive when The Mousetrap first opened in 1952. After more than 24.000 performances in London alone, the play continues to delight audiences with its timeless glimpses of human nature amidst the beautifully crafted story.
