Lend-a-Hand auction on tap: Opportunity Works will hold its 30th annual televised Lend-a-Hand auction on Feb. 22.
This popular auction is held in partnership with Comcast and will be broadcast live from noon to 9 p.m. on local public access channels in the Greater Newburyport and Haverhill areas. The auction will be streamed online at www.portmedia.org. Some of the auction items can be seen and bids will be accepted at www.biddingforgood.com/opportunityworks, leading up to preview night and the televised auction. Some items will go on to the live auction.
You can view the items and offer pre-bids on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., during Preview Night at the Nock Middle School, 70 Low St., Newburyport. Admission is free. Opportunity Works is a nonprofit agency with sites in Newburyport and Haverhill that provides employment, specialized day habilitation and community and recreation services for adults with developmental disabilities. New musical on tap: Northpoint Bible College will present a new musical, “The Song of Hosea,” on Feb. 20, 21 and 22 in the school’s Fine Arts center.
All shows start at 6:30 p.m. Written and directed by Alan Bailey, “The Song of Hosea’’ tells the story of a prophet called by God to marry a prostitute in order to show her and the world the power of redemptive love. This show deals with themes of prostitution and human trafficking and is not suitable for children.
