Past Finders makes history fun for kids

Noted violinist and pianist to perform at NECC: Virtuoso violinist Andrew Kohji Taylor of Brookline will join Essex Chamber Music Players pianist David Allan Pihl of Worcester in a concert of violin and piano music on March 30 at 2 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus of Northern Essex Community College, 100 Elliott St.

Chamber artistic director and flutist Michael Finegold of Andover and guest cellist Priscilla Bellairs of Newburyport, professor emerita of English at NECC, will join Taylor and Pihl for the Quantz. The music is of the Romantic and Baroque periods with a contemporary element and includes pieces by Arvo Pärt, Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Quantz.

The nonprofit Essex Chamber Music Players, under the artistic direction of Michael Finegold, has been in residence at NECC since 1999.

General admission tickets are $15; $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students. Admission is free for NECC students who present a college ID.

Library to host talk on movie: Stop by the public library on March 31 at 7 p.m. to discuss “Captain Phillips’’ and the book on which it was based.

Visit online at www.haverhillpl.org for details and to register. On select weekday mornings in March, the library will be screening classic gangster films at 10 a.m. in the auditorium. Visit the library online for specific movie titles and dates, under calendar of events.

Learn how to communicate with your doctor: Dr. Tollman of Wingate Haverhill will lead a presentation titled “How to Speak with your Physician” on April 2 at 10 a.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.

Library to host musical performances: Two Old Friends will perform Irish, folk, country, blues, and ballads on April 3 at 7 p.m. in the public library’s auditorium.
