Wine tasting and charity auction on tap: The Pentucket Kiwanis Club of Haverhill will hold its fifth annual Let’s Make a Difference wine tasting and charity auction on Nov. 8 in the Galleria Room at Maria’s Restaurant, 81 Essex St.

Cost of $35 per person includes wine and beer tasting, carving and pasta station, and silent and live auctions. All proceeds benefit community programs, projects and charities in Greater Haverhill. Applications for Christmas help accepted: The Salvation Army of Haverhill will be accepting applications for Christmas assistance from Nov. 4 to 7 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Applicants will need to bring identifications for every adult in the house, proof of income, proof of residence in Haverhill or Groveland, proof of any income or support, including public support, and birth certificates and insurance cards for all children 13 and younger. Applications will be taken at The Salvation Army, 395 Main St., entering through door 6. More information is available from Lt. Jeff Hardy at 978-374-7571.

Veteran’s Day parade planned: The city’s annual Veteran’s Day parade is scheduled for Nov. 11.

The parade will form at 10 a.m. on Kenoza Avenue in front of VFW Lorraine Post 29, 64 Kenoza Ave. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to Monument Square, then down Main Street to the Global Peace Monument on Ginty Boulevard, where services will be held.

At the conclusion of the services, the colors will be retired and the parade will be disbanded. A buffet luncheon will be held at the American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St.

Scavenger hunt planned: A scavenger hunt to benefit the Buttonwoods Museum will be held on Nov. 11.

Participants are asked to meet on the lower level of the Merrimack Street parking deck at 5 p.m. The hunt begins at 6 p.m. Teams of four to eight people will be given clues to solve as they navigate their way around town. An extra point clue will be given to your team upon payment so the sooner you pay, the sooner you will receive your clue. Cost is $45 per person, or $40 if paid by Oct. 26.
