Master piano workshop offered: The Music Program at Northern Essex Community College is offering a masters workshops in the art of piano playing on Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.

Piano players will have an opportunity to perform and learn in a cooperative group setting. Solo piano works and instrumental and vocal works with piano accompaniment of various levels of difficulty will be explored with NECC music faculty member Christina Dietrich. Various aspects of piano performance and preparation will also be discussed. Students at all levels of playing ability are invited.

Neighborhood meeting planned: Team Haverhill will host a neighborhood meeting to discuss renovation plans for the Portland Street Playground on Nov. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Please use the William Street entrance.

Families and individuals who live near the playground are encouraged to attend this event, which will include a complimentary dinner and an alternate activity for children. Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure sufficient food and child care.

The agenda includes a review of the basic layout for the renovated site, which is expected to include a playground area for children and a basketball court. The planning team will present various options for play equipment and seek feedback from potential playground users about which they would like to see included.
