NECC students to perform Shakespearean comedy

(Continued)

Haverhill High drama club to present play: Something magical is happening in the mythical town of Almost Maine.

It’s 9 p.m. on a cold, clear, winter night and as the Northern Lights dance across the sky, nine very different couples all experience the lightening strike of love at exactly the same magical moment. Usually with the joy of love found, but occasionally with the pain and confusion of love lost and unfulfilled.

If you want to share the journey of these quirky, and yet all too familiar characters as they traverse the minefield of the human heart, attend Haverhill High School’s production of “Almost Maine,” a play by John Cariani. Since 2009, “Almost Maine” has been the most produced play by high schools in America. Performances are Nov. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. General admission is $7, or $5 for students and senior citizens.

Auction Gala planned: Team Haverhill will hold its “All Aboard Auction Gala” on Nov. 16 at the Haverhill Country Club, 58 Brickett Lane.

Doors open at 6 p.m. This event will feature a live and silent auction to help Team Haverhill meet its goal of raising $25,000 to match Pentucket Bank’s $25,000 contribution towards the Art Walk at the Bradford Rail Trail. With Matt Noyes as the auctioneer, the money raised will allow Team Haverhill to commission the Art Walk, in partnership with Pentucket Bank. The Art Walk will feature several large, permanent sculptures and several smaller sculptures that will likely rotate. Tickets are $50 each at www.teamhaverhill.org, while available.

The Auction Gala, also sponsored by Pentucket Bank, will include a dinner and live entertainment by members of Spotlight Playhouse. For more information, visit online at www.teamhaverhill.org or email artwalkbrt@teamhaverhill.org.

Folk icon Garnet Rogers to perform: Folk icon Garnet Rogers will perform at the New Moon Coffeehouse on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.
