This documentary recounts the experience of director and producer Andre’ Robert Lee and current-day minority students in elite prep schools followed by a question-and-answer session with Lee. Author to visit public library: New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill will be at the public library on May 12 at 7 p.m. for Haverhill Reads.

Hill will be discussing his novel, “NOS4A2,” selected as the 2014 Haverhill Reads book. Read it then discuss it with the author himself. Register online at www.haverhillpl.org as space is limited and demand will be high. Hill is also the author of “20th Century Ghosts,’ “Heart Shaped Box,” the Locke & Key series with author Gabriel Rodriguez, and “Horns,” which is soon to be a major motion picture.

Community Action accepting award nominations: Community Action Inc. in Haverhill is accepting nominations for its Community Champion Award, to be presented during its Community Recognition Night and Roast on May 15 at the Renaissance Golf Club.

Nominations of area residents who exemplify the Community Action values of building hope and offering assistance with respect and understanding will be accepted until April 9. Six candidates will be recognized for their contributions to the community and to improving the quality of life and well-being of an individual, family, or community at the event.
