Youth groups have walk to prevent child abuse

“The Music Man” is presented by Spotlight Playhouse: Fifteen adults and young people from Haverhill will be joined by nearly 30 actors from surrounding towns for five performances of Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” to be presented by Spotlight Playhouse.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on June 13, 14, 20 and 21, and a 3 p.m. matinee on June 21. Needed are a few more teenage boys to round out the cast, especially boys with some dancing skills, and several more men to play traveling salesman in the opening scene. Rehearsals began on March 23 and will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in addition to Sunday afternoons. Advance purchase tickets are on sale now for $15 at www.SpotlightPlayhouse.org or by calling 978-380-8509. After May 15, tickets will be $20 for adults and $18 for Spotlight Playhouse members, seniors, and children 12 and under.

Spotlight Playhouse is an all-volunteer community theater group that is celebrating its fifth full season of offering live plays, cabarets, youth acting workshops, and musicals in Haverhill. Lobsterfest at Indian Head: Bethany Community Services is planning a trip to the Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, N.H. on June 16 for a lobsterfest.

The deluxe motor coach will pick up at 8:45 a.m. in front of Merrivista, departing at 9 a.m. from 500 Primrose St. Make your reservation with Darlene at 978-374-2165 or dsutton@bethanycommunities.org. The trip includes motorcoach transportation, open bar for one hour, whole lobster and steamed clams, full buffet with carving station, dancing, and entertainment by Jim Connors and Brad Bradford. Cost is $80 per person. There will be time for shopping in the gift shop.

Golf Tourney planned: Northern Essex Community College’s Alumni Association will host its first Golf Tournament on June 23 at the Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill.
