Hill will discuss his novel, “NOS4A2,” which was selected as the 2014 Haverhill Reads book. Read it then discuss it with the author himself. Hill is also the author of “20th Century Ghosts,’ “Heart Shaped Box,” the Locke & Key series with author Gabriel Rodriguez, and “Horns,” which is soon to be a major motion picture.
Safety with the Seasons program offered: Lesley Zamansky, RN, and Erica Venuti, RN, community health nurses for Guardian Healthcare, will present Safety with the Seasons on May 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.
Lunch is 11 a.m. Goody bags will be handed out with informational materials.
As spring and summer approach, learn ways to stay safe and healthy — recognizing and caring for insect bites, protecting yourself from over exposure to heat and sun, proper nutrition/hydration, safety with mobility and fall prevention, and how the different seasons can affect your health.

Lawrence mayor to speak at NECC commencement: Daniel Rivera, mayor of Lawrence, will be the featured speaker at Northern Essex Community College’s 52nd Commencement on May 17 at 11 a.m.
The event will be held under a tent on the quadrangle on the college’s Haverhill campus. About 1,100 graduates are expected to receive certificates and associate degrees. To learn more about NECC’s commencement, visit necc.mass.edu/commencement.
YWCA Tribute to Women: YWCA Haverhill will host its 25th annual Tribute to Women luncheon on May 28 at 11:30 a.m. at DiBurro’s function hall.
Since 1990, YWCA Haverhill has been honoring the outstanding achievements of women, who live and work in Haverhill, its surrounding communities and southern New Hampshire. Nominations can be made by co-workers, employers, peers, churches, families and friends. All nominees are inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women. More than 275 women have been honored since 1990. Nomination packets are available at the YWCA or by calling 978-374-6121. Deadline for nominations is April 11.
