Road Race: The Haverhill YMCA and the YMCA of the North Shore will present the David Curley 5K Memorial Road Race "Be a Champion" July 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Stadium on Lincoln Avenue. Registration fee is $10 in advance or on the day of the event. Free T-shirts to the first 225 to register. Registration is free for children ages 13 and under. Register online at northshoreymca.org/roadrace.cfm. or mail or drop off entry forms to Tracy Fuller, race director, at the Haverhill YMCA, 81 Winter St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Rocketry Workshop: The Library will host a Rocket-Building Workshop for teens on Thursday July 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Launch your rocket Fri July 13 at Golden Hill. For more information or to register, contact Sam Sednek, 978-373-1586 x650.

Outdoor Concerts: The 2012 season of the Make Some Noise free summer music series continues Thursday, July 12, with a performance by Vic & Sticks, a family music show that encourages lessons such as recycling and sharing. The show starts at 6 p.m. Opening act is Randy Videyko. In case of rain, performances will be held at the Chit Chat Lounge, 103 Washington St. The Make Some Noise music series continues through Sept. 20 and is funded by a grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council. For a schedule of events visit haverhillculturalcouncil.com. The Bradford Common free outdoor summer music series continues Friday, July 13, with the Coupe Deville Band. The show starts at 6 p.m. on Bradford Common with a warm-up by singer/songwriter James Parone. The series continues with Elle Gallo and Dangerous Men on July 20, TJ Wheeler and the Smokers on July 27, Paul Prue and the Bradford Cats on Aug. 3, EJ Ouellette and Crazy Maggie on Aug. 10 and Lance Bryant and the Mike Cesati Quintet on Aug. 17. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets, children and pets. More information is available from Paul Prue at 978-590-2119.
