Adopt a Lucky Duck: The grand prize in this year’s Haverhill Rotary Club Rubber Duck Regatta is $10,000. Ducks will be available for adoption every Monday and Wednesday until Aug. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the public library, 99 Main St. Other prizes will be announced between now and race day, which is scheduled for Sept. 16.This year’s grand prize was donated by Rockingham Toyota-Honda of Salem, N.H. This is the fourth year of the event. Proceeds support various local charities, such as the Boys & Girls Club, the YMCA and YWCA, Career Resources, Community Action Inc., Haverhill High School scholarships, Northern Essex Community College scholarships, Merrimack Valley Hospice, the public library and other organizations. Rubber ducks can also be adopted online at adoptaducktoday.com

Prescription Advantage talk: A representative from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs will be at the Citizens Center Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. to explain how Prescription Advantage can help fill the gap in your Medicare prescription drug coverage. Ice Cream Social: The Council on Aging will hold a free ice-cream social for Haverhill seniors Aug. 13 at noon at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Kathy Bresnahan or Rita LaBella at 978-374-2390.

Amvets Ladies Auxiliary 147: The group will resume its regular monthly meetings Aug. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Post Quarters, 576 Primrose St. The newly elected officers for the 2012-2013 season will conduct the meeting and will make final plans for the annual tag days event, to be held Aug. 17 and 18 at Market Basket stores in Central Plaza, Westgate Plaza and River’s Edge Plaza. Proceeds from the two days will help the Auxiliary to continue their Veteran’s benefits, nursing home Bingo parties and child welfare activities for the upcoming season. Members are encouraged to attend this important meeting to hear reports from delegates who attended the recent Department of Mass. State Convention that was held at the Sturbridge Hotel and Convention Center in Sturbridge.
