Author Visit: Local children's author Jerry Pallotta will be at the Langley-Adams Library in Groveland May 9 at 6 p.m. to present an hour long talk on the creative process. Following the presentation his books will be available for purchase and signing. Pallotta is the author of "Going Lobstering", one of the library's community reads books, as well as many other nonfiction picture books. This program is funded by a federal IMLS/LSTA grant administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Dough-raiser: Career Resources Corp. will hold a "Dough-raiser" fundraiser May 10 at Uno Chicago Grill in Haverhill. If you order lunch or dinner and present your waiter or waitress with a coupon, Uno's will donate 15 to 20 percent of your total bill to Career Resources. This includes take-out orders as well. Members of the Career Resources staff will be at the restaurant to greet you, provide you with chances to win prizes and answer questions. The nonprofit organization, located in the Ward Hill Business Park, helps people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient and successful. Powderpuff Game: On May 12, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. the Haverhill High Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams will play a Powderpuff game at Haverhill Stadium. All proceeds from the event will support the Hillies Boys and Girls Lacrosse Booster program.

Yard Sale:The Relay For Life Of Haverhill Team Yvette's River Runners will hold their 5th annual yard sale on Satruday, May 12th, 2012 at 10 University Lane, Methuen (Off Pelham Street). Hundreds of items are donated every year by friends and family from Methuen, Andover and Lawrence and all money raised will benefit The American Cancer Society.
