Art Exhibit: The Haverhill Public Library will hold an exhibit by local artist Allen Drelick through May 30. Allen will exhibit photos of his original works in acrylic, along with a collection of original pieces. This exhibit can be seen in the 2nd floor gallery during regular library hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A reception is planned for Tuesday, May 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Scholarship: Community Action has extended the application deadline for separate $1000 Gerald Goldman Memorial Scholarships to be presented to an area high school student and to an area GED recipient. Seniors, high school graduates, and GED recipients from Haverhill, Amesbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, Groveland, Georgetown, Boxford, Rowley, Newbury, West Newbury and Merrimac are eligible to apply. Seniors from area high schools can receive an application from their guidance counselors. High school graduates and GED recipients can request an application by calling CAI at 978-373-1971 or online at www.communityactioninc.org. Completed applications are due no later than May 25th.
Pizza Night Fundraiser: The Haverhill Police Department will once again be sponsoring the GREAT/DARE Days summer youth camp program. The camp is free to Haverhill children and police are in the process of finalizing the dates, times and the camp schedule. To help pay for the program, police will hold pizza night fundraisers June 7 and June 14 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Papa Gino's, 782 River St. The restaurant will donate up to 20 percent of sales to the program. There will be both dine-in and carry out options but delivery is excluded. Coupons for both nights will be distributed to all the Haverhill middle schools, will be posted on the Consentino Middle School website, in the lobby of the police station at 40 Bailey Blvd. and inside Papa Gino's on the days of the events.
