SERIOUS LAUGHS: Comedy shows benefit Rotary, HHS athletics
Comedy shows benefit service club, Haverhill High School athletics
What's black and white and read all over? A newspaper.
OK, so the joke is old and loses some of its punch when written rather than spoken.
Perhaps it's better to leave the punch lines to the professionals.
Two benefit comedy shows will entertain audiences and raise serious cash along with some laughs.
On Friday, Feb. 12, comedian Juston McKinney will headline a show to help the Rotary Club of Haverhill fund its work in the community.
Another funny Friday night is scheduled for March 12 as the Haverhill High School Athletic Boosters host their Third annual Comedy Night.
The event will also take place at Michael's Function Halls, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person.
The Hillies event will feature comedy routines from five comedians, snacks, hot hors d'oeuvres, raffle prizes, live and silent auction items, and a cash bar. But the show will do more than tickle a few funny bones. The event raises money for Haverhill High School boys and girls sports programs, which include over 50 varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams.
The proceeds from the show will help to reduce athletics fees across the board, said Haverhill High Athletic Director Garin Veris.
To buy tickets for the Haverhill High comedy night, call 978-374-5732 or e-mail gveris@haverhill-ps.org. Checks may be sent to Haverhill High School Athletic Department, 137 Monument St., Haverhill, 01830.
