You can save on cost of train trips

Heading to Boston to take in a sporting event or visit a museum?

If you are 65 or older, you are eligible for a discount on the cost of taking the rain to Boston.

And the savings is not just pennies. You can save half the cost.

Here are events and activities for Haverhill senior citizens:

New Year’s Eve party: Best of Times and the Haverhill Council on Aging are offering a New Year’s Eve Day Party at the Danversport Yacht Club on Tuesday, December 31. Trip includes transportation, luncheon, show, orchestra, party favors and champagne toast. Cost is $79 per person. Contact Kathy or Rita for additional information at 978-374-2390.

Free admission to holiday event: Methuen’s 20th annual Festival of Trees is now to Dec. 7 at 13 Branch St., Methuen.

The event will have senior citizens and Red Hatter days on Nov. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free for senior citizens and members of the Red Hatters social organization.

Help paying heating bills: A representative from Community Action will be at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St., on Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss heating assistance.

Museum trip: Do you have an interest in travelling to the Peabody Essex Museum to see the “Impressionists on Water” exhibit?
