Precious few days of summer remain for school-aged Haverhill kids, all of whom will be back in the classroom by Wednesday, Sept. 8.
The organizers of events at Winnekenni Castle have put together three days of activities to make sure there's fun to be had right up to the last day.
Sunday, Sept. 5, is Kids Wild Animal Kingdom Day at the castle, beginning at 1 p.m. Curious Creatures visits with reptiles and furry friends, followed by a special presentation by Eyes on Owls.
Visitors will see live owls and learn all about these beautiful birds of prey.
Admission is free for children and $5 for adults. Refreshments will be available.
A free Labor Day blues concert featuring Matt Stubbs begins at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6.
Stubbs has played with the Charlie Musselwhite Band, and has toured and recorded with top blues and soul acts such as Junior Watson, John Nemeth, Janiva Magness, Lynwood Slim, Brian Templeton and Sax Gordon.
This program is sponsored in part by the Haverhill Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the state Cultural Council. Refreshments will be available.
The second-to-last Tots'n'Tykes Tuesday takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.
For $5 per child, instructors from Little Sprouts and Imajine That lead children through arts and crafts and educational activities, music presentation and outdoor fun.
