No. 2 Fenway 65, No. 6 Whittier 49
Whittier head coach Kevin Bradley said before Tuesday night's semifinal matchup that the game would be a "track meet." What he didn't expect was an 0-17 first-quarter shooting performance that put his Wildcats down 23-0 after eight minutes.
"I've never seen that in my life," he said.
With 7:48 left in the second quarter, senior Jessica Goulet, who scored 13 in the game, broke the cold snap with a three-point play, and the Wildcats began to shake off the initial nerves that plagued the team in the first quarter.
"The main thing was getting them to relax," Bradley said. "Just pretend you're in the backyard."
