New yoga studio offers free class

The newest member of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, The Yoga Tree, opens on Friday, Aug. 6, with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and studio open house from 6 to 8 p.m.

Owner Caroline Giles will lead tours of the studio at 104 River St. and introduce visitors to her staff.

Giles has practiced yoga for four years and is certified with the national Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. She completed her teacher training with Jaqueline Heisel and Frog Lotus Yoga International in Bali, Indonesia.

The mission of The Yoga Tree is to give the student, whether a beginner or seasoned yogi, an inviting place to practice yoga and experience the benefits of yoga on and off the mat, Giles said.

Classes are held in a 1,000-square-foot studio overlooking the Merrimack River.

Yoga not only has physical benefits but can help reduce stress and provide awareness and focus in all aspects of your life, Giles said.

The Yoga Tree offers mainly Vinyasa-style classes in a noncompetitive and encouraging atmosphere. The Yoga Tree hopes to build a large community of yoga students from the thousands of people who live, work and commute to and from Haverhill.

Free yoga classes will be offered Saturday, Aug. 7, and Sunday, Aug. 8, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A regular class schedule begins on Monday, Aug. 9. For a complete schedule, visit theyogatreestudio.com.

Classes are available on a first come, first serve basis and space is limited. Call or e-mail to reserve a spot today.

Giles can be reached at caroline@theyogatreestudio.com or call 978-944-4126 for more information.
