Golf tournament fundraiser: Sarah's Place Adult Day Health Center will hold its annual golf tournament on Friday, Sept. 26, at Granite Fields Golf course in Kingston, N.H. Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Entry fee is $120, which includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf and a cart, player's gift, hot dogs at the turn and a lunch. Bowlers needed for fundraising tournament: The Haverhill Clubhouse is recruiting bowlers to participate in its next Bowling Tournament fundraiser to be held Sept. 27 starting at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Lanes on Primrose Street. Each bowler is asked to commit to raising $100 in pledges. For teams of five bowlers, each bowler is asked to raise $100, or the team can raise $500 collectively. Italian festival: The Haverhill Downtown Association has its annual "North of the North End" Italian Festival on Sunday, Sept. 28, from noon to 6 p.m. in Washington Square and along Washington Street in downtown Haverhill. The Downtown Association is looking for vendors. Booths 6 by 10 feet are available for $100 each. Vendors can include food, arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing, pottery, information, games, activities and more. All should have an Italian theme or be decorated to reflect the colors of Italy. This year's festival will feature everything from authentic Italian cuisine to musical entertainment for all ages, including the popular Miss Italy competition, a variety of games, activities and face painting for children will be available in "Little Italy." The festival's grand finale is the Rat Pack direct from Las Vegas with a tribute to Frank, Sammy, Dean and the original sounds of the famous legions of the past. The festival is free and open to the public.
John Greenleaf Whittier wet paint auction: Local artists are invited to spend the day painting on the grounds of the Whittier Birthplace, Rocks Village, Whittier's Amesbury home or any other locale that can be related to Whittier or his work on Saturday, Oct. 4. A $20 registration fee includes coffee and breakfast snacks and a bag lunch for the participating artists. There will be an evening reception, and a live and silent auction at the Technology Center at Northern Essex Community College. The first 40 artists may submit a dry work for the silent auction. Artwork must be substantially completed on the day of the event. Photography and nonoriginal artwork will be displayed separately. Sign-in will be at the Tech Center at 8 a.m. The artwork completed must be delivered to the Tech Center by 3 p.m. All entries - wet and dry - are to be framed and ready for hanging. Crescent Yacht Club annual Boat Parade will be Sunday, Sept. 14, at noon. The parade will start at the Newburyport public docks and travels upriver to the Crescent Yacht Club, where there will be live music, food, raffles and more. Ruth's House, a nonprofit, nondenominational thrift store at 26-30 Lafayette Square, needs spring and summer clothing for all ages, especially men's jeans and other clothing. YMCA fall registration begins: The Haverhill YMCA has begun its fall program registration for swim lessons, gymnastics, the flag football league, rock climbing and art classes for kids. Adaptive swim program for children and adults with special needs. This program includes an introduction to water and water-adjustment activities.
