Elmo Visiting the Library
The public library will host a visit from Elmo Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. Children will participate in a story time, and can act out books with their favorite Sesame Street character. All participants will have an opportunity to meet Elmo, so bring a camera. Children will receive a free goodie bag filled with a new book and other materials. This program is sponsored by the state’s UFund College Savings plan and MEFA (Massachusetts nonprofit authority helping offer affordable higher education solutions). The public library will host a Book Chat session Nov. 29 from 10 to 11 a.m.
This is an informal monthly readers advisory group where you can hear the latest fiction and non-fiction reviews and share what you are currently reading. Spotlight Playhouse will present “A Christmas Carol: a Live Radio Play” Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 7, 8, at 8 p.m., and Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Church, 278 Groveland St. This show, based on the classic story by Charles Dickens, is directed by Kevin Wilson or North Andover and produced by Karen Timmerman of Haverhill. Stage manager is Beckie Adams of Haverhill. The cast includes Elinor Curtin Cameron as Scrooge, Jeff Collard as Marley/Fred, Diane Ficarra as Mrs. Cratchitt, Frank Garcia as Bill/Charity and Gentleman, Derek Iversen as Tiny Tim, Natalie Kerr-Collard as Bill’s Wife, Angela Merrill as the Ghost of Christmas Past, David Monahan as narrator, Rick O’Shey as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Hannah Pageau as Young Scrooge, Elysa Porter sound effects, Sasha Zbitnof as Bob Cratchit and Spencer Zbitnoff as Peter Cratchit.
