Pentucket Players to hold auditions: Pentucket Players Inc., celebrating its 20th anniversary season, will hold open auditions for Rogers & Hammerstein’s classic musical play, “The King & I” on Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for children ages 6 to 12 (including the role of Louis Leonowens and the King’s children) and on Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for teens and adults (including the role of Prince Chulalongkorn).
Both auditions will be held at the Lawrence Heritage Museum, second floor, 1 Jackson St., Lawrence. The play is being directed by John Buzzell of Haverhill and produced by Marie Bliven of Methuen. The Pentucket Players are hoping for a cast of 50, including 20 children. This production will be presented at the Rogers Center for the Arts in November. Reggae music featured: Archie’s Little River Ale House in Lafayette Square will present live reggae with Dread Rocks featuring JEM-I on Aug. 25 from 5 to 10 p.m.

Armenian picnic planned: The Armenian Church at Hye Pointe will hold its annual picnic on Aug. 25 from noon to 5 p.m at the American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St.
The event will feature music by the Jason Naroian Ensemble with Jason Naroian on dumbeg/vocals, John Arzigian on accordion and vocals, Leon Janikian on clarinet, Greg Takvorian on oud and vocals, Michael Naroian on dumbeg and Paul Mooradian on tambourine.
The menu will include shish, losh and chicken kebab dinners; kheyma, pilaf, pastries and beverages. Raffles for cash prizes and gift certificates will be held. The function hall is air conditioned.
