Students at the Tilton Elementary School are falling into fitness.
Physical education teacher Christine Munier encouraged her students to take part in physical activities this year by creating a special bulletin board.
Keeping with imagery of the season, Munier created a scene showing apples and leaves falling from a tree on the board. Every time a student completed an exercise, which needed to be signed as completed by a parent or adult on a certificate, they earned another apple or leaf on the board bearing their name and what they did to stay healthy.
Sara Levesque, 10, said she took park in intramural cross country and played softball in order to earn her leaves.
"It was fun because I got to see my name up on the board," she said. "I felt proud."
So far the board has been adorned with several dozen apples and leaves and there are no signs of the project slowing down, Munier said.
"The students get very excited when they bring in their certificates," she said.
Due to the success of the program, Munier said she wants to also create winter and springtime board themes this school year.
