SOCIAL: Vanessa Riggio, James Cassell marry

Vanessa Ann Marie Riggio and James Luke Cassell were married on Aug. 1 at St. Leonard's Church in Boston's Historic North End. Father Claude officiated at the ceremony,

Parents of the couple are Vincent and Francesca Riggio of Stoneham and Jim and Linda Cassell of Haverhill. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Anita Petrillo was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Luisa Badolato, Gina Cacciola, Lorrin Romani Esposito, Laureen Laffey, sister of the groom, Victoria Badolato, Nicole Dean, Gabriella Howard, Andrea Lynch, and Gina Riggio, sister-in-law of the bride.

Best man was Torey Dean. Ushers were Michael Cassell, brother of the groom, Anthony Giampa, Edwin Scanlon, Richard Early III, Timothy Harris, and Mark and John Paul Riggio, brothers of the bride. Joseph Riggio, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Linda Laffey, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

The reception was held at the United States Coast Guard Club on Commercial Street, Boston.

The bride is a graduate of Stoneham High School with a Bachelor's Degree from Regis College and a Master's from Suffolk University. She is employed at the Boston Globe as an event manager.

The groom is a graduate of Haverhill High School and is a real estate appraiser and salesman for Cassell Real Estate Services and Seacoast Appraisals.

The couple honeymooned in Bermuda. They reside at Salisbury Beach.
