Armenian church plans Fall Fair
The Ladies Guild of St. Gregory Armenian Church of the Merrimack Valley will hold their annual Fall Fair on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., in Jaffarian Hall, 158 Main St., No. Andover. The buffet lunch, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include losh kebab, chicken kebab, salads and a vegetarian plate. The dinner buffet, 5 to 8 p.m., will include a choice of shish, losh or chicken kebab, khema plate made to order and a vegetarian plate. The event will include a Country Store, Armenian foods and pastries (eat in or to go) and hand-crafted gift items. Admission is free. Candlelight meditation service
The Groveland Congregational Church will host a candlelight meditation service modeled on the services held at the Taize community in France on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the church, 4 King St., Groveland. Pumpkin Potluck luncheon
The Universalist Unitarian Church will host a pumpkin potluck luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the church, 15 Kenoza Ave. Luncheon will begin downstairs at 12:30 p.m. Please bring a favorite dish to share and bring a pumpkin to carve plus any tools you'd like to use or share. Children's harvest program
A Pumpkin Patch Harvest Party will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Haverhill Alliance Church, 284 Kenoza Ave. Local children ages 2 to 12 are invited to attend this free, safe and fun event featuring candy prizes. Cardinal to celebrate Mass
St. James Parish will celebrate a closing Mass of its Anniversary year 2008-2009 on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. The Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Sean O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston and invited priests. A dinner will follow at the Atkinson Country Club, in Atkinson N.H. All parishioners and friends of the parish are welcome to attend the Mass in St. James Church. Dinner is by reservation only. Temple Emanu-El

Adult education: Author Ernie Weiss will read from his book "Out of Vienna: A Remarkable Story of Survival" on Sunday, Oct. 25. "Out of Vienna" is about 28 members of Weiss' family from Vienna and Prague who were persecuted by the Nazis. Ten did not survive the Holocaust - nine were murdered by Nazis and one committed suicide. Members of the Temple will also share experiences of the Holocaust. Information, call 978-373-3861.

Ham and bean supper: The public is invited to a ham and bean supper on the first Saturday of each month October through May at 5 p.m. Cost is $7 adults, $4 children.
Worship and Sunday School are every Sunday at 10 a.m. The church resumes regular worship schedule in September. A fellowship hour with refreshments is offered following worship. The church is handicap accessible and provides large print worship bulletins and hearing assistance devices.
Pantry collection Sundays: The first Sunday of each month nonperishable food items, health and beauty items and paper products can be brought to the church for distribution to food pantries.
Book fundraiser: The church is raising money through the collection of new and used books, videos, CD's, DVD's and audio books. Donations may be dropped off in the gray container in the back parking lot of the church. No encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers or catalogues please. The church will be paid for items collected and all raised will benefit the general fund of the church. Many collected books will be donated to schools, libraries, sent overseas to the troops and sold in book sales to benefit local nonprofit groups.
