Holiday schedule: The Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority schedule for Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 16 is: No local bus service; no EZ Trans service; no ring and ride service in Andover, Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland, Methuen, Newbury, Salisbury, West Newbury and Newburyport — Route 51. No MVRTA Boston commuter bus.

Library closed Monday

The Haverhill Public Library be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The library will reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m. For more information call 978-373-1586. Visit online at haverhillpl.org.

CHURCHES

The First Church of Christ will hold a ham and bean supper on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children under 12. There is a $20 family maximum. The church is at 10 Church St., Haverhill. More information is available by calling 978-374-1114 and leaving a message.

FAMILIES AND KIDS

Kindergarten Information Night: Haverhill's Public Schools will host free kindergarten information sessions for children in the Class of 2025. The sessions are open to parents and guardians of children at all schools and will be held Jan. 17 at Tilton Elementary School, 70 Grove St., and March 20 at Pentucket Lake Elementary School, 252 Concord St. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Sessions are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Your child must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 in order to be eligible for Kindergarten in September. Free baby-sitting will be available for children accompanying their parents to these sessions. Informational packets will be given to those in attendance. Pottery Studio: From Jan. 20 to Jan. 22, You're Fired, a pottery and mosaic studio in Salem, N.H., will donate their sitting fee of $8 per adult and $6 per child to St. Joseph School of All Saints Parish in Haverhill. Please let them know you are there for this school fundraiser. Bring friends, family, neighbors and anyone else that is looking to spend a few hours tapping into their inner artist.
