Thanks to all who made Santa Parade a success

To the editor:

On behalf of the VFW Post 29 Santa Parade Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this year’s 48th annual VFW Santa Parade an outstanding success.

Special thanks to our sponsors and our faithful supporters who provide crucial financial contributions. Thanks to them we are able to pay the marching bands, Hallamore Clydesdales, and other major attractions that make our parade the largest and longest ongoing event in the City of Haverhill.

We saluted our veterans by dedicating this year’s parade to their heroic service, and we hope they enjoyed being a part of the parade as much as we enjoyed having them. Please remember the sacrifices made by the men and women who put country first and ensure that we remain the land of the free and home of the brave.

Plans for next year’s parade begin in February. We are always looking for new ideas and new bands and other special attractions, such as the inflatable costume characters we added to this year’s lineup. We appreciate your input to make the parade even better than it already is, especially as we are less than two years from commemorating the 50th anniversary of the event sponsored by Lorraine Post 29 VFW. No other event in the city has reached this milestone, and we look forward to being the first!

But for now we wish you all a happy holiday season. See you on Nov. 24, 2013, the date of our 49th annual VFW Santa Parade.

Roland Plourde

Chairperson, 48th annual VFW Santa Parade
