Bradford's First Church to reopen food pantry

Due to overwhelming need, the Christian Outreach Team at First Church of Christ, Bradford, has decided to reopen the church's food pantry.

Members will visit area food pantries and attend monthly Haverhill Hunger Roundtable meetings to better understand the need that exists in the community.

Once the food pantry is reopened, it will serve residents of Haverhill and Bradford who are able to show proof of residency. Other documentation may be required.

Food and monetary donations are being accepted and the team is looking for volunteers to help distriute the food on selected days.

Items suggested for donation are hot and cold cereals, pasta and rice, sauces, canned meats and stews, canned fruits and vegetables, canned or box juices, peanut butter, jelly or jam, condiments such as mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup, pantry staples such as flour, sugar and spices, health and hygiene products, paper products, canned and bag pet food.

Contributions may be delivered to the church on Sundays or donors may call the church at 978-374-1114 to arrange a delivery time.

Those can contribute financially may mail a check, payable to First Church of Christ, Bradford, with "food pantry" in the memo. The church is at 10 Church Street, Bradford, MA 01835

An announcement will be made when the food pantry is ready to open.
