Adult mentors needed for Little Friends

Big Friends Little Friends, formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lawrence, matches children and youth with caring adults who serve as role models and friends. It is a one-year program in which the Big and Little consistently meet two to four times a month and spend between two and five hours together each time. Matches are made with considerations to such things as geographic location, interests and personalities. Six mentoring programs are offered: Traditional/community-based mentoring, site-based mentoring, mentoring out loud (a program for deaf and hard of hearing children), couples as bigs, family matches, and cross-gender matches. By spending time with a child or youth, the volunteers help to increase their Little's self-confidence and create a more positive outlook for the future. For more information, call Big Friends Little Friends at 978-327-6600 or visit www.familyserviceinc.com.
