Art workshop

Treasures on the Common yard sale
The First Church of Christ in Bradford will host a giant community yard sale fundraiser on the Bradford Common on Saturday, July 18 and Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with rain dates on the Saturdays following each date. Spaces can be rented for $10, or $15 with an 8-foot table. You can also donate items to the sale. For more information, call 978-374-1114.
Book fundraiser
The First Church of Christ Bradford is raising money through the collection of new and used books, videos, CD's, DVD's and audio books. Donations may be dropped off in the gray container in the back parking lot of the church, 10 Church Street, Bradford. No encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers and catalogues please. The church will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in the donation container and all funds raised will benefit the general funding of the church. In addition, many of these collected books will be donated to schools, libraries, sent overseas to the troops and sold in book sales to benefit local nonprofit groups. Help sick or injured pets

Vacation Bible school
Kingdom of the Son's safari themed bible school will be held from Monday, Aug. 10 to Friday, Aug. 14 at King of Grace Church, 28 Chadwick St., Bradford. Children will discover exotic animals, create safari crafts, play games, sing songs and enjoy snacks all while learning about God. Concerts on the common
The First Church of Christ in Bradford summer music series will be held on six Friday evenings this year: July 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14 and 21. In case of rain, the concerts will be held inside the church. For more information, call 978-374-1114.
Overeating support program
Overeaters Anonymous is a 12-step program for those who suffer from the disease of compulsive eating. All are welcome to attend. Meetings are every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 10 Church St., Bradford. Information, 978-407-9909.

Ted's for Tires lot closes Tuesday; Parking garage construction to start soon
As part of the construction of the new Downtown Parking Garage in Railroad Square, the former 'Ted's for Tires' lot will be closed permanently on Tuesday, Aug. 3, as of 7 a.m.

Mayor James Fiorentini said the move marks the beginning of site preparation for the Downtown Parking Garage construction project, which is expected to start in August. A formal groundbreaking will soon be scheduled on the 315-space, 5-story parking structure. -
Councilors: Hands off water fees
Three city councilors say they want to protect residents who use — and pay for — municipal water and wastewater from shouldering an unfair burden of the overall city budget.

Downtown businesses win hearing, but likely will lose trash pickup
Downtown businesses have won a chance to be heard about changes in city trash regulations that will take away municipal rubbish collection.
