Armenian picnic planned: The Armenian Church at Hye Pointe will hold its annual picnic on Aug. 25 from noon to 5 p.m at the American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St.
The event will feature music by the Jason Naroian Ensemble with Jason Naroian on dumbeg/vocals, John Arzigian on accordion and vocals, Leon Janikian on clarinet, Greg Takvorian on oud and vocals, Michael Naroian on dumbeg and Paul Mooradian on tambourine.
The menu will include shish, losh and chicken kebab dinners; kheyma, pilaf, pastries and beverages. Raffles for cash prizes and gift certificates will be held. The function hall is air conditioned. Bobby Bell walk/race set: The 27th Annual Bobby Bell 5-Mile Road Race/Walk will be held Oct. 13 at the Lasting Room Grille, 122 Washington St.
The walk begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the race at 11 a.m. Fee is $25 for pre-entry and $30 post entry. Free t-shirts go to the first 70 walker entries and first 260 runner entries. Numerous awards in various age, weight, and specialty categories will be presented. There will be ender graded scoring.
A buffet will follow along with a disc jockey and raffle prizes. Thee will be no gender divisions. The event benefits local scholarships, the Haverhill Police Auxiliaries, Haverhill’s Brightside and the Andover Striders.
