First-time home buyer training offered: Community Action Inc. is offering a first-time home buyer education workshop for area residents beginning May 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Presidential Gardens Community Room, 140 Evergreen Drive, Bradford. Participants will receive comprehensive information offered by housing professionals including bank lenders, buyer/seller real estate brokers, housing attorneys, insurance agents home inspectors and credit counselors. A state-approved certificate is awarded after completion of the three-night course. Classes are May 23, 28 and 30. The cost is $60 per household. Council on Aging plans trip to Baltimore: The Council on Aging is planning a trip to Baltimore to see the Boston Red Sox play the Orioles in Camden Yards. A visit to Gettysburg National Park for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg is included. Trip departs on July 26 and returns on july 28. This trip includes three Red Sox games at Camden Yards and two nights in the Crown Plaza in Timonium, Maryland, with full American breakfasts. Cost is $449 per person, double occupancy. Woodcarving class resumes at Council on Aging: The city’s Council on Aging will resume the wood carving class on Fridays at 10 a.m. beginning May 10. Students will be taught by master carver Fred Arakelian. A carving kit of supplies will be provided at a one-time-per-project charge of $18. Carving knives will be loaned to you for free.
