A sweetheart of a race

As at any Valentines Day event, there were hugs, kisses and smiles.

But at this event there was also running — sometimes involving couples who raced hand-in-hand.

The 23rd annual Bradford Valentine Road Race, hosted by the First Church of Christ in Bradford, was held on Feb. 8 starting at Bradford Common. Nearly 400 people participated.

In addition to long sleeve t-shirts, all finishers received a carnation from Flowers by Steve, as well as a box of chocolates, homemade soup, fresh fruit and yogurt.

All category winners received custom commemorative medals, plus a $25 gift certificate to Whirlaway Sports Center. After the race, Archie’s Little River Ale House in Lafayette Square hosted a gathering with additional raffle prizes.
