Dr. Ira Silver, professor of sociology at Framingham State University, will speak on the issue of increasing inequality in this country on Sunday at Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St.
This free presentation is from 10 a.m. to noon and is preceded by breakfast at 9:30 a.m. In his latest book, “Giving Hope,” Silver says “We hear a lot these days about the growing rich-poor gap and how it is undermining the American dream. A telling indicator is that hard work is no longer the sure-bet ticket to getting ahead it once was.”
Silver will discuss how second chances can be offered to Americans who have dim prospects for moving their lives forward without outside help. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is appreciated by calling 978-373-3861 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
