The Haverhill Gazette
---- — It’s now easier for kids from the Boys & Girls Club to get around town.
The club received a donation from Haverhill Bank to buy a new, 15-passenger van.
The van, which will be used for both after-school and summer camp activities, will feature the Haverhill Bank logo on its rear door.
“We want to support the organizations in our city in the ways that allow them to continue to provide the important youth development services to area children,” said Thomas Mortimer, Haverhill Bank president and CEO. “A new van gives the Boys & Girls Club more control and easier access to the many events and conferences in which their members participate. We are pleased to make such a direct impact on the club.”
Club Executive Director Brian Therrien said the van will save money for the organization.
“Prior to owning our own van, we had to contract out for transportation,” Therrien said. “The cost for transportation used to be an obstacle for us in terms of getting kids where they needed to be. Now, transportation isn’t an issue anymore. Haverhill Bank helped us eliminate a major problem, and for that, we are grateful.”
The club is at 55 Emerson St.
