Minor League Floor Hockey, Semifinals

Second place Blase Distefano moved on to the finals over third place Rice & Brouillard Electric with a 3-2 win. Calvin Pruett scored two goals in the first period for Blase Distefano followed by Giovanni Reyes’ one goal shortly after. Rice & Brouillard was down 3-0 in the first and second period, but almost caught up when Tyler Rice hit two goals in the third period with 1:34 left on the clock. Time ran out and Blase Distefano advanced to the finals.

Fourth place Fantini Bakery edged out first place Arty’s Roast Beef 2-1. Both teams failed to score in the first period, but in the second period Neondre Abreu scored a goal for Fantini Bakery with 3:37 left on the clock to take a 1-0 lead. In the third period, Braden Lynch scored a goal for Fantini Bakery for a 2-0 lead. Ryan Wentworth scored a goal for Arty’s Roast Beef with 3:49 on the clock, but failed to tie the game. Fantini Bakery moved on to the finals against second place Blase Distefano.

Minor League Basketball, Championship Finals

First place Mediterranean Pizza took the Championship title over third place Jaqueline’s Grocery Store 34-20. Woodrow Reese did an excellent job shutting down the top scorer, Phillip Cunningham, who scored only seven points for Mediterranean Pizza. Brendan Donald and Brian Morales quickly picked up the slack for the leading scorer by scoring 10 points each. Yonga Zagrella scored a team high nine points for Jacqueline’s Grocery Store in the showdown. Congratulations to Mediterranean Pizza on being the 2013-2014 Minor League Basketball Champions.

Major League Basketball, Championship Finals

Second Place GL Enterprises won the Championship with a 42-37 win over Early Contractors. Sebastian Batista played strong and scored a team high 15 points for GL Enterprises followed by Jordan Guillermo’s 10 points. Joshua Santacruz kept Early Contractors in the game and scored a game high 23 points. Both team played extremely hard all the way to the end, but only one team can be crowned champions. Congratulations to GL Enterprises on becoming the 2013-2014 Major League Basketball Champions.
