Vehicles broken into in hotel parking lot

Several vehicles were damaged and broken into at the Best Western Motel on 401 Lowell Ave., police said.

Three vehicles that were parked along the side of the building near the rear of the CVS store were broken into overnight between Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24, police said.

One vehicle, owned by New Balance Shoe, was found to have the passenger side window smashed and was missing several small personal items, such as chewing gum and papers.

Another vehicle, owned by Budget-Avis Rental, also had its passenger side window smashed and was missing a Garmin GPS unit, police said.

These incidents were reported on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:53 a.m. and 7:23 a.m., police said.

Man asking for directions steals GPS unit from vehicle

A man whose GPS unit was stolen from his vehicle claimed a man who asked him for directions stole it, police said.

The victim found his front passenger side window smashed and his Garmin GPS unit, worth $250, missing from his vehicle on Friday, June 26, at 116 White St., police said.

The victim told police he knew the suspect from around the neighborhood and stated that the suspect had come to him asking for directions and that he showed the suspect his GPS that was in the car, police said.

The car was broken into sometime overnight between Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26, police said. The incident was reported at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, June 26.

Man chases vandal

A man who reported hearing a suspect smash his car windows chased the suspect down the street, police said.

The man, whose vehicle was parked at 118 Merrimack St., looked out a window when he heard his car windows smash and observed a suspect, police said. The victim then chased the suspect down Wall Street before losing sight of him, police said. This was the second time in a little over a week the victim's car has been broken into, police said.

The incident was reported at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, police said.

Vandals glue restaurant's locks shut

The owner of Wicked Big Café on 19 Essex Street was unable to open the restaurant's doors on Sunday, June 21 because the locks were filled with super glue, police said.

The owner told police he had closed the café at 3:30 on Saturday, June 20 and returned on Sunday at 7:10 p.m. to find he could not put his key into the locks, police said. A clear substance that appeared to be super glue was hardened into the locks, and it also appeared that some of the glue had leaked out and hardened onto the doorknob, police said.

The owned stated he didn't know of any possible suspects and has had no problems in the past, police said.

The incident was reported at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, police said.
