Minor League Floor Hockey, Week 9
Stymies Pizza took the victory over American Resource Staffing. Both teams played great defense in the scoreless first period. Nathan Libby scored the only goal in the game for Stymies Pizza in the second period. Tito Delgado showed strong goaltending play for Stymies Pizza and prevented American Resource Staffing from scoring the entire third period. Stymies Pizza now has a 5-4 record, and American Resource Staffing has a 4-5 record.
Arty’s Roast Beef and Fantini Bakery played great defense through the first, second and third periods, with neither team scoring. The game went to a three-minute overtime period, but again neither team scored. It came down to a shootout period where Timmy Eason, the youngest player in the league, got the game winning goal for Arty’s Roast Beef. Fantini Bakery has a 5-3-1 record, and Arty’s Roast Beef has a 7-1-1 record.
Rice & Brouillard Electric took the victory over Javier’s Market. Ryan Wentworth scored the game-winning goal in the first period. Both teams played excellent defense in the second and third periods when neither team scored a goal. Rice & Brouillard Electric has a 6-3 record, while Javier’ Market suffered its ninth consecutive loss and is 0-9.
Major League Floor Hockey, Week 9
Dempsey Insurance took the victory over Pistone Containers by three goals. Kassius Baptiste scored three goals for Dempsey Insurance, two of which were in the first period. Daniel Howell scored three goals for Pistone Containers. Dempsey Insurance has a 6-3 record and Pistone Containers has a 4-5 record.
Brayden Dorr came up strong as an offensive player for Blase Distefano, scoring four goals for his team’s victory over Malcolm Insurance. John Tompkins Jr. scored two goals for Malcolm Insurance, but it wasn’t enough. Blase Distefano has a 7-2 record and Malcolm Insurance has a 2-7 record.
Messinger Chiropractic put an end to its losing streak against Twomey & Legare Contracting. Jason McKeon victory, scoring four goals for Messinger Chiropractic. Sam Powell scored two goals for Twomey & Legare Contracting, but it was two goals short of a win. Messinger Chiropractic has a 3-6 record, although the team is looking better every game. Twomey Legare Contracting has a 5-4 record.
JV League Floor Hockey, Week 8
Don Wilson made an impressive comeback in a battle for second place against Sparky’s Wings and Things. Daniel Smith was on fire, scoring five goals in the showdown. Matthew Conte scored two goals for Sparky’s Wings and Things, but it wasn’t enough. Jake Freitas showed great goaltending for Don Wilson, blocking almost every shot that came his way. Don Wilson worked its way up to second place with a 5-3 record, and Sparky’s Wings and Things has a 4-4 record.
AZ Landscaping maintained its position in first place, beating Starr Painting by two goals. Billy St. Amand played goalie the entire game for AZ Landscaping, stopping every shot that came his way. John Tompkins Jr. scored the first goal for AZ Landscaping in the second period, which put them in the lead. John Vets scored a goal in the third period that secured the win for AZ Landscaping. Starr Painting continued its five-game losing streak, and AZ Landscaping walked away with a 6-2 record.
Minor League Basketball, Week 10
Julio Jubert scored a season high 21 points for Richdale Convenience Store, but it wasn’t enough to take the victory over The Common 1854. Jason McKeon demonstrated great ball movement as point guard, scoring eight points for The Common 1854. Richdale Convenience Store continued its losing streak against The Common 1854, and ranked sixth place in the league with a 1-9 record. The Common 1854 is in fifth place with a 4-6 record.
Shoe City Hardware fought hard for the second-place position, taking the win over Jacqueline’s Grocery Store. Carlos Rivera score 15 points for Shoe City Hardware and played a huge role in the victory, making a three-point shot in the fourth quarter. Cristian Ovalles scored 13 points for Jacqueline’s Grocery Store, but it wasn’t enough to take the victory over Shoe City Hardware. Jacqueline’s Grocery Store is in fourth place.
Early Contractors continued its first-place standing by beating Fireside Restaurant & Pub. Tyresse Gutierrez stepped up as the offensive leader for Early Contractors, scoring 10 points in his team’s victory. Phillip Cunningham played hard for Fireside Restaurant & Pub and scored 10 points. Fireside Restaurant & Pub is in third place.
Minor League Basketball Playoffs
Fourth-place team Jacqueline’s Grocery Store took out fifth-place team The Common 1854 in the first round of the playoffs. Cristian Ovalles scored 27 points for Jacqueline’s Grocery Store, and the team will be moving on to the semi-finals against first place team Early Contractors on Saturday, March 2, at 10 a.m. Third-place team Fireside Restaurant & Pub took the victory over sixth place team Richdale Convenience Store. Phillip Cunningham scored 17 points in the showdown for Fireside Restaurant & Pub, and will move on to the semi-finals against second-place team Shoe City Hardware at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.

Avery Cerow scored 31 points for JDR’s Auto/Welding & Towing in the victory over Early Contractors. Eduardo Gonzales and Nicholas Goudreault each scored 17 points for Early Contractors. JDR’s Auto/Welding & Towing has a 4-5 record and Early Contractors has a 3-6 record.
High Street Market held onto first place against Destiny’s Spanish Market. Navin Cruz demonstrated great offense and scored a season high 62 points for High Street Market. Sylus Kitchens scored 41 points for Destiny’s Spanish Market, but it wasn’t enough to take out the first place team. High Street Market has an 8-1 record, and Destiny’s Spanish Market has a 3-6 record.
