:Lions Club to hold magic show: The Haverhill Lions Club will hold a Twisted Magic Show Feb. 10 at the Elks Hall, 24 Summer St., from 1:30 to 3 p.m. There will also be balloon twisting for children who attend. The Haverhill Lions Club raises money for eye research, scholarships, eye exams and eyeglasses for those who cannot afford them. :Red Cross offers babysitting training: The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts is offering babysitting training. The course will be held Feb. 18 and will cover leadership training, how to set pricing, understanding and caring for kids, safety skills, first aid and more. The Red Cross will also provide resources such as resume and business card templates, a “How to Ace an Interview” guide, a self-assessment tool and a safety inspection list. The class runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is available at the American Red Cross chapter office at 177 Ward Hill Ave. To register call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.redcross.org/babysitting. The cost of $85 includes all training materials.
:Council on Aging plans new trips: The Council on Aging is planning a mid-winter trip to visit and tour the Boston Public Library Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. The library houses 8.9 million books and a wealth of rare books and manuscripts, maps, musical scores and prints. Of significant importance is the Sargent Gallery, which includes spectacular murals painted by John Singer Sargent. Cost is $35 per person for transportation and tour. The Council on Aging will also visit The Museum of Fine Arts Art in Bloom exhibit April 29 at 10 a.m. Floral artists will interpret artwork through the use of flowers and vegetation. Cost of this trip is $45 per person for transportation and admission to the museum. Cost for museum members is $20 for transportation.
