Council on Aging activities

The city’s Council on Aging contributes this regular column.

:Trip to New Hampshire resort: Haverhill Council on Aging is offering an overnight trip to the Beacon Resort in Lincoln, N.H., May 19 and 20. This trip includes the Beacon’s Fabulous Lobster Bake Dinner and lobster offered at every meal. Entertainment will be a live performance by Mark Stelton and Company with a Tribute to Broadway Show Tunes and Standards. Price is $169 per person double occupancy.

New trips planned: The Council on Aging is offering two new trips. Charlie Thomas and The Drifters will perform at the Danversport Yacht Club on June 12. Tickets are $79 per person and include transportation, luncheon and show. The council will also host a trip to the Isle of Shoals and Portsmouth Harbor Cruise on June 23. Cost is $89 and includes transportation, luncheon, harbor cruise and local touring.

Improving quality of life while aging: Dr. Richard Mugavero of HealthSource of Bradford will host a lunch and learn workshop titled “Healthy to 100” on April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Participants will learn how people are living longer and with a better quality of life. Mugavero will apply the techniques he uses on improving quality of life. Reservations are required by contacting Mary Connolly at 978-374-2390, ext.15.

Legal options for elders: Marta Davis of Merrimack Valley Legal Aid will be at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St., on April 23 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss senior legal options and opportunities. Please call 978-374-2390 to sign up for this free event.

Art show planned: Students of art teacher Cara Smoley will present their annual show on April 23 at the Citizins Center from 9:30 a.m. to noon. All community members are encouraged to stop by and admire the art work.

Real estate pro offers advice: Jefferson Davis of Caldwell Banker Real Estate will make a presentation on preparing to sell your home and downsizing on April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Citizens Center. Davis is a seasoned real estate professional from Haverhill. Preparing to sell your home is difficult, and he will share his insights and offer ideas and suggestions based on his years of experience.
