Community opens wallets for Bradford Rail Trail

They did it.

Organizers of a project aimed at putting sculptures along the Bradford Rail Trail have accomplished their financial goal.

The recent All Aboard Auction Gala organized by the Team Haverhill civic organization raised more than $25,000 toward the sculptures, event organizers said.

The event at Haverhill Country Club drew people from across the community. They bid on items in live and silent auctions and bought raffle tickets to contribute to the cause.

Organizers said the event surpassed their $25,000 goal. Earlier, Pentucket Bank donated $25,000, meaning more than $50,000 is now available to buy sculptures to be placed along the Merrimack River trail on the south side of the waterway, across from downtown.

The trail is designed to give people a place to walk, run and ride bikes along the river. Organizers said they hope the sculptures will help make the trail a tourist attraction.
