Church to hold meditation service: The community is invited to attend a Taize meditation service at Groveland Congregational Church March 24 (Palm Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. The service, to be held in the candlelit sanctuary, will last about a half-hour and will consist of scripture, prayers, songs, petitions and an extended period of silent prayer. Hampstead choir to perform in Haverhill: The St. Anne, Hampstead, N.H., cantata choir will hold its annual Palm Sunday performance March 24 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford. The 60-voice and 20-piece orchestra will perform “Arise, My Love.” The ecumenical group, under the direction of Cynthia Verrill, has been performing for more than 12 years to standing-room only crowds in Hampstead. Members of the group come from 18 area churches. Sacred Hearts Church is at 165 S. Main St., Bradford. The church is handicap accessible. This event is open to the public and admission is free. Grant writing workshops offered: A series of three grant writing workshops will be held at Northern Essex Community College’s Riverwalk campus at 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Entry K, in Lawrence. Introduction to Grants Research is March 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. Introduction to Grant Writing for Beginners is April 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. Introduction to Grant Writing II for Beginners is April 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost of each workshop is $30. First-time home buyer workshop begins March 28: Community Action Inc. is offering a first-time home buyer education workshop for area residents beginning March 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Presidential Gardens Community Room, 140 Evergreen Drive, Bradford. Participants will receive comprehensive information offered by housing professionals including bank lenders, buyer/seller real estate brokers, housing attorneys, insurance agents home inspectors and credit counselors. A state approved certificate is awarded after completion of the three-night course. Classes are March 28 and April 2 and 4. The cost is $60 per household.
