The local Trinity EMS ambulance service has teamed with the Peruvian Children's Fund to help give medical aid to children in Peru.
Trinity donated a sophisticated stretcher/gurney and other medical supplies to aid in Dr. John Wang's efforts in South America.
Wang is on a three-year mission to help out communities in Peru who are in need of medical help. Many villagers live in poverty with no sanitation, running water, heat or electricity and with very little medical care. Forty percent of the children in these communities do not live to age 10.
"How could we not get involved?" said Trinity President John Chemaly. "When we heard of the situation these children were in, we knew we had to step up and support Dr. Wang's mission. He is doing amazing work and we are proud to play a small role."
Wang, a professor at UMass-Lowell, is focusing on providing medical services and education to both treat and prevent illness.
