Country club plans big party for small businesses

The Haverhill Country Club is hosting its eighth annual Big Party for Small Businesses on Friday, Dec. 12, so small businesses can have a first-class holiday party just like big businesses. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres start at 7 p.m., with dinner and live entertainment going from 8 p.m. until midnight. The cost is $44 per person, plus tax and gratuity. GlobalWare Solutions participates in coats drive

GlobalWare Solutions in Haverhill is participating as a corporate partner in Anton's Cleaners Coats for Kids winter coat collection drive. GlobalWare Solutions will collect coats from its employees to assist Anton's Cleaners in reaching its goal of collecting 60,000 good quality coats, the kind that someone would give to a friend, in the 14th year of the drive.

The 2008 campaign kicked off Oct. 1 and will continue through Dec. 31. Once collected, coats are delivered to Anton's Cleaners or Jordan's Furniture stores for distribution.

Massage studio picks Haverhill resident as manager

City man directs training at Syrinx Consulting

Gregg Valeri, a seven-year Haverhill resident, has been named director of education and training at Waltham-based Syrinx Consulting, which is one of the 25 largest IT consulting firms in the region. In his fourth year with Syrinx as a principal software engineer, Valeri is now responsible for .Net and SharePoint training.

Network at NECC to aid nonprofits: Nonprofit organizations in the Merrimack Valley, struggling more than ever because of the downturn in the nation's economy, are able to access premier grant research databases as well as attend professional grant research and grant writing workshops at a newly created Grants Resource Network in the library of the Lawrence campus of Northern Essex Community College on Franklin Street. All access is free. The Grant Resource Network is a partnership between the Associated Grant Makers of Massachusetts, Jericho Road Lawrence Inc., and Northern Essex Community College.

Business networking group: The Haverhill chapter of Business Network International has a free networking breakfast every Friday at 7 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Haverhill at 346 Broadway.
