Bradford Christian Academy accepts applications

Bradford Christian Academy is accepting application for the 2009-2010 school year. BCA is a college preparatory middle/high school. Interested families can attend an open house on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bradford Christian Academy offers students a faith-based, college preparatory educational program with dedicated teachers, small class sizes, and rigorous curriculum. School officials report that students to perform consistently at an average of three grade levels above current grade on national standardized tests. Class of 1964 to reunite

Haverhill High and Trade School Class of 1964 45th Reunion will take place at Brookstone Grille on Route 111, in Derry, NH on Friday, Sept. 25.¬  To encourage socializing, the format will be dinner served in food stations.¬ The organizing committee is extending the reunion into Saturday, Sept. 26, which will include golf and socializing in the lounge with a light food selection.

Explorer summer scholarships available

The Mass Center for Academic Success, a local company serving Essex and Middlesex counties and Southern New Hampshire, specializing in individualized one-on-one academic and test prep tutoring, will offer one merit-based and need-based Academic Explorer 2009 Summer Scholarship. Scholarships provide a student with 20 hours of one-on-one in-home tutoring instruction in phonics, reading comprehension and mathematics during the summer. Any child in grade one to 12, attending a public or private school in Essex or Middlesex counties in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, is eligible. This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and includes the cost of the tutor and instructional materials. Parents, educators and school administrators interested in nominating a child for this scholarship should contact MCAS by calling 978-226-1700 or visiting masscenter.org.

Schools offer free preschool screening

Haverhill public schools provides free preschool screening to 3- and 4-year-old children in Haverhill. Preschool screening is a brief look at a child's overall development, including the areas of language, motor skills, and thinking and reasoning skills. Screening is a brief, child-friendly, play-oriented time during which a trained preschool teacher will work with the child. The information gained from preschool screening may help answer some parents' questions and help make decisions about good learning experiences for your child.
