Academic Achievers

Two Haverhill students were recently awarded scholarships from the Massachusetts Freemasons. Beth Smith, a biology major at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Daniel Duffy, a physics major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, each received a $5,000 scholarship for the coming academic year. Scholarships were granted on the students' academic achievements, financial need and broad participation in community and school activities.

Evan A. George, son of Frank and Sandra George of Haverhill, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts and history degree from Norwich University. He has been accepted into the Teach America Program in New Orleans.

Tara Marie Early, a human services major and daughter of Richard and Mary Early of Bradford, and Casey M. Moran, a psychology major and daughter of John and Susan Moran of Bradford, were named to the Endicott College dean's list for the spring term. In order to qualify for the dean's list, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no grade below a "C," and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.

Warren W. Egersheim of Bradford, a member of the class of 2009, was named to the Stonehill College dean's list for the spring term. In order to qualify for the dean's list, a student must obtain a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better.

These local students graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Sunday, May 24: Caitlin Elise Walleston, Laurie M. Angeloni, Jennifer A. Leeman, Thomas Craig Mazza, Krista M. Murphy, Stephanie Stark and Stephen Andrew Watson.

These local students graduated from American International College on Sunday, May 17: Christina Siragusa, Gina Schoenfeld, Donna Giangregorio and Meghann Shanahan.

These students were named to the Fitcburg State College dean's list for the spring semester: Jacob Gonyer, Rebecca McHale, Sarah Moore of Bradford, Eric Phennicie, Amanda Roche, Jessica Santos and Jennifer Zaleski.
