It's time to vote for Haverhill's Best

Poll lets readers pick favorite businesses, people places

It’s that time of year again for Gazette readers.

If you’re computer savvy, just click a few keys to give your opinion on who and what are outstanding in Haverhill.

If you’re old fashioned, get out the scissors and cut out the ballot in today’s edition of the Gazette.

Either way, you’ll be on your way to participating in the newspaper’s annual Haverhill’s Best competition — casting votes for your favorite businesses, personalities and places in the city.

The deadline for casting ballots is June 13. Ballots received by the newspaper a short time after that will be honored.

Here are the categories and a sample of what they include:

Activities and sports — dance schools, gymnastic schools and golf courses

Appearance — hair salons and tanning salons

Automotive — auto repair and auto dealerships

Local people — service clubs and politicians

Professional services — accountants, banks, dentists, doctors and insurance companies

“Out and about’’ — bakeries, doughnut shops, places with the best meals and drinks, function halls and caterers

Shopping — appliance stores, sales and service, flooring stores, convenience stores, liquor stores and pet groomers

Places — scenic spots and historical sites

Voting for Haverhill’s Best is easy — and also creates a source of pride for the business community.

Sven Amirian, president of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, said the annual voting is fun and gives merchants a boost.

“The Haverhill’s Best competition affords a wonderful opportunity to highlight the multitude of varied businesses throughout our region,’’ Amirian said. “It provides a friendly dose of competition for our commercial entities and engages the community at large in recognizing and honoring the quality services and products that are found locally.

“Being voted as the top business in a category is truly an accomplishment, and the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is always proud to have a strong contingent of chamber members as finalists each year,’’ he said.

After the ballots are counted, the Gazette will publish its annual Best of Haverhill special section highlighting the results. It will also contain stories about winners chosen by our readers.
