Ice-cream social planned: The Council on Aging will host an ice-cream social sponsored by Senior Helpers, Griswald Homecare and Methuen Health and Rehabilitation on July 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Tickets are $1 per person. TOTS-n-TYKES Tuesday: Winnekenni Castle's next Tots-n-Tykes Tuesday event is July 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. The program's theme is "Beach Luau!" and is recommended for ages 2 and up. Teachers from Little Sprouts & Imajine That will guide children through educational and creative workshops designed to stimulate little minds. The activities will change each week and will be based on a specific theme of the week. Some activities will be outside so please dress your child appropriately. College to Career Program open house: Northern Essex Community College is currently recruiting students for a grant-funded program designed especially for unemployed and under-employed adults who want to prepare for careers in high demand technology and health care fields. An open house for the program will be held at NECC Riverwalk, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Entry K, Lawrence, on July 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. College to Career staff will assist students with the college process, facilitate access to support services, and help them find a job when they have completed their certificate program. Certificates can be completed in as little as eight months, and the curriculum is strongly focused on the workplace, including an internship. Programs include health care, computer information sciences, and advanced manufacturing. The $20 million grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor to the Massachusetts Community College System. Visit online at www.necc.mass.edu.
