The Lamp Post

The Lamplighter would like to extend a hearty thank you to students, parents and staff of Bradford Elementary School for raising more than $1,072 for the Haverhill Gazette Santa Fund. The school's Student Council hosted a penny drive to raise the money. Even when the holiday season had passed, Bradford students showed the spirit of giving isn't limited to a single time in the year.

Speaking of the holiday spirit, there seems to be no limit on how long decorations remain up. The Lamplighter hopes decorators will begin taking down the garland decorations on lampposts downtown. They're starting to wither away.

The Lamplighter has sampled lobster bisque and chowders from Rhode Island to Maine, but has tasted none better than those at the Haverhill Beef Company and the Pine River fish market.

Heard on the police scanner in the newsroom: A woman ingested a battery in Haverhill last week.

There was an exciting doubleheader between Pentucket and Whittier's basketball teams last Sunday. It's nice to see all high school basketball teams in Greater Haverhill playing well so far this season.
