:Celebrity chef featured at spring fundraiser: The nation’s newest celebrity chef, Kristen Kish of Boston, will be the featured guest at the inaugural Spring Celebrity Series event to benefit Emmaus Inc. The event will be held on May 8 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., with a VIP reception beginning at 6:15 p.m., at the Rogers Center for the Arts on the campus of Merrimack College, 315 Turnpike St., North Andover. Kish will prepare a dish, discuss her techniques and take questions from the audience. General admission tickets are $25 and include the presentation, audience question-and-answer session and post-presentation reception. VIP tickets are $75 each and include a private reception with the chef before the presentation. A silent auction offering entertaining and culinary gifts will take place throughout the event. Benefit gala for veterans May 15: A “Serving Those Who Serve Us” benefit gala, hosted by the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, is May 15 and will be highlighted by an appearance by Gen. George Casey, Jr. the former Commander of the Multi-National Forces in Iraq and the 36th U.S. Army Chief of Staff. Ticket sales to the public will help fund mental health services for military men, women and families in various facilities throughout the area, including the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center in Haverhill. The gala will be held at the Seaport Hotel, Seaport Boulevard, Boston. Self-parking is available at the Seaport Boston Parking Garage located on Seaport Boulevard. Valet parking is also available at the main entrance of the Seaport Hotel.
